Emma always had a calling to work with Plants
Born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard Island, where her love for plants began at a young age- at her family’s Nursery on Tea Lane, in Chilmark. She left the island after High School to pursue a Plant and Soil Science degree with a focus in Sustainable Food and Farming at Umass Amherst. She was hooked on herbal medicine after taking classes at UMass with Herbalists Chris Morono and Brittany Wood Nickerson. Upon graduating from college and taking time off to travel, she headed to California and spent two years studying Clinical Herbalism at The California School of Herbal Studies. This culminated in a 3rd year intensive, studying with classmates and with her Mentor Bryan Bowen. The group formed and opened a free mobile community herbal clinic in Sonoma County called Bay Herbalism. She spent months working as a clinical herbalist with local patients and served as one of the herbal medicine makers. After years of being away from the island it was time to come home and bring her herbal knowledge and medicine back to her community. Here she is, where it all started on Tea Lane so many years ago..
